VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGN (VMS)

Intelligent VMS can be used to support a number of measures from improved road safety to air quality monitoring; every 4 minutes, someone is injured on a British road and poor air quality is the biggest environmental threat to health in the UK with up to 36,000 deaths a year attributed to long-term exposure (Public Health England, March 2019).
There were 1,748 road deaths in the year ending June 2019, as reported by the DfT (30 July 2020). The statistics also show there were 153,315 casualties of all severities in reported road traffic collisions in 2019. This is 5% lower than in 2018 and is the lowest level since 1979.
The Environment Audit Committee has estimated that total health costs, due to air pollution, range between £8.5 billion and £20.2 billion a year. Utilising intelligent road signage to influence road user behaviour and increase the attractiveness of active travel (walking and cycling), by improving safety and comfort, can support road safety and the improvement in air quality.

Our Vehicle Roof Mounted VMS system is ideal for escort vehicles and traffic management services. With a single sign that serves multiple functions, this VMS solution is ideal for informing, advising and influencing road users.
This system consists of a VMS and roof mounting structure with linear actuator for lifting and lowering the sign.
The solution also includes advanced, user friendly, control and diagnostics software and can be connected to our Cloud Control platform for remote monitoring and control in real time.
